Nail care. Nutrition and healthy nails.

NoktiWho does not dream of beautiful and healthy, strong and smooth nails? Nails adorn women's hands, and when they are well-groomed they will attract the attention of others. It is possible to make your nails beautiful and healthy yourself. In the same way that we care for other parts of our bodies the nails should also be treated correctly. To bring nails to beautiful perfection and to make them strong it is necessary to eat correctly and to make strengthening procedures.

First of all - proper nutrition. Diet should include products with gelatin: jellies, soups, candied fruit jelly etc. Another very useful food group is milk and other dairy products .Yeast, soy products, whole grains, fish and seafood will be beneficial as well as green vegetables, wheat and avocado. All of this care with diet will have a beneficial effect on the condition of nails.

Nails protect the fingers from injury and they beautify  the hands (of course, if you look after them regularly).

Average length of the nail plate - 15 mm. Average thickness of the nail plate of the hands is - 0,5 mm, and on your feet - 1 mm. Nails grow continuously,at an average of 0.1 mm per day, but the rate of growth depends on many factors.

It is known that children's fingernails grow faster than adults' nails. Nails grow faster in the morning and afternoon, in the summer - faster than in winter. The toe nails grow more slowly than fingernails . The nail takes over 130 days to grow from the beginning to the edge.

Nail consists of protein (keratin), a significant amount of calcium, although this does not affect the strength of the nail, and a small amount of water. On the surface is a lipid film, which protects the nail and gives it a polished shiny look.

Constant contact with water and detergents can have a negative impact on color, flexibility and durability of the nail plate. Only the correct and continuing care can keep nails healthy.

The condition of nails is a good indicator of the healthiness of the whole body. Milky-white spots on nails (leykonihii) may occur due to liver disease or injury of the nail plate. White spots - a cluster of immature cells can appear with spaces between them. Laminated (split), brittle nails may indicate poor care or even vitamin deficiencies, and metabolic disorders.

If you need to slightly shorten the nails, file them off, to lessen the chance of splitting them.

Strengthening nails. Ways of strengthening nails

Lemon juice is very effective if you rub it into the nail where it starts . Even greater effect can be achieved using a nail food which contains lemon oil and vitamin E. This has a good permeability. It should be rubbed into the cuticle area 1-2 times a day (morning and evening, when you use hand cream). The results of this treatment can be seen quite quickly.

Nail mycosis

One of the common problems in nails is mycosis or fungal diseases. These do not appear overnight but are the result of a long process that begins on the legs. This problem needs to be treated by a dermatologist. Fungus does not clear itself up, and can be resolved only by a sufficiently long treatment.

Daily care of nails

• Nails should be kept clean. If possible you should wipe the nails with a brush. They, like the skin, need  exfoliating for normal life.

• Nails need nutrition. Every day use fat cream .This should be done before going to bed by massaging the nails and rubbing the cream into the nail bed. This will not only softens but smooth the skin around the nails and activate good blood circulation in the nail bed.

• Hands should be washed correctly and carefully. In the case of sensitive and brittle nails do not use soap. Instead you should use oil of orange peel.

• Weak nails should be treated. If the nails are very brittle, it is necessary to undertake a course of treatment. During this period, you should refrain from manicure.
